Daniel Samborski 11/21/19
Today we started off the class with the unit 3 vocabulary quiz. After that we had to read 4 scenarios and Make a decision  for each one.

Paulina started off the discussion by saying that she would tell the leader that she would tell them even though she would have been casted out. She thought that the leader might thank her later.
Nafi based the second decision off of reasoning because he would rather see less people suffer.
Lillian then related the questions to the black Mirror episode with the pig.
Derek answered the 4th question by saying he would break up with his wife but not tell her the reason, because he fears that his children might find out.

After that we had to solve the riddle “what has 4 legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and 3 legs in the evening”. The answer was a human.
We were then introduced to the story of oedipus.
Mrs fusaro then shows us the 7 characteristics that defines a tragedy

Mrs Fusaro said that the Greeks believed that you went to shows to purge your emotions. She related this to going to the gym because the Greeks believed you needed to exercise your emotions as well as your body. After watching a tragedy, you will feel better about your life, because it is not like the tragedies that you watch.
We then saw pictures of theaters that the Greeks used.
All of the roles were played by men.
Reflection- this lesson taught me a lot about the way the Greek tragedies were set up. I did not know about the chorus, and I was very intrigued when I found out. I like how their productions have many parts of it that make it whole. I like how the Greeks viewed plays as exercise  for the emotions.
