Aim: How does "The Book of Job" structuralize and shape Western philosophy?

We began the class by discussing what lessons and morals could've been evoked from "The Book of Job".  Some pessoa that we found were: "Look at situations with different perspectives", "Bad things can happen to good people", and that "God shouldnt be questioned".  In the Judeo-Christian religion, God is viewed as omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.  Because God has these traits, it is thought that God has no need to be questioned.

We then watched a video where we reviewed the story of "The Book of Job".  From the video, we learn that God looks at the entire universe with great detail and he has to control all of these aspects that a human alone cannot handle.  A question brought up in class led to a further explanation of Satan's character.  Originally, Satan is not the fiery character that we all know him to be.  Instead, he is known as "The Opposer".  Satan himself does not corrupt a person but he tempts them to commit sins.

Next, we had a class discussion where the question was: "Consider Satan's accusation to God concerning Job: Does Job fear God for nothing?  Explain what Satan is trying to prove".  In conclusion, we decided that Satan was trying to prove that people did not have blind fsith, people were greedy, and that people were not loyal.

I learned that in the Judeo-Christian religion, God has a plan for everyone and that in life, there will be a path for you.  You may not understand what happens to you but your choices will either lead you to Heaven or Hell.
