Jacob Tabulov Blog #3

Aim: How does Prejudice affect the perspective of the jurors?
We started of the period with a Do Now which asked us to present our opinions on two pictures; one of an old man with a heart-warming smile, and the other of a man with a creepy smile.
Prejudice - the word prejudice refers to prejudgment: i.e. making a decision before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case. In recent times, the word has come to be most often used to refer preconceived, usually unfavorable, judgments toward people or a person.
We talked about how this concept correlates with "Twelve Angry Men", and then proceeded to continue reading the play.
We finished reading Act 2 in class and progressed through the play. This seems to be the climax and turning point of the story.
Group Work

  • How does prejudice affect our perspectives?
  • What role does bias play in our decision-making?
  • Is there ever a time when prejudice serves a positive role?
In class i learned that prejudice can alter some people's decisions and choices. it is important to look at the bigger picture of things and overall think about the situation before jumping to conclusions. i learned it because this will definitely help me in my future. i wont recklessly make decisions and wait for the outcome but thoroughly think about it before doing.
