What are the updates around the world/community regarding the virus?

  • 64 NY Children Sickened With Rare COVID-Related Illness.
    • According to the New York Post Sixty-four children in New York state have been hospitalized with a rare, life-threatening inflammatory illness linked to the coronavirus
    • The state health advisory said while older adults are at risk for severe COVID-19 illness, children can still get sick, though they rarely become severely ill.
  • MTA shutdown subways for COVID-19 cleaning
    • All 472 subway stations will be closed until 5 a.m., with 500 cleaners surging through the system.
    • According to business insider the MTA now has 20 times the confirmed coronavirus cases it had two weeks ago, with 5,600 employees in self-quarantine and 33 deaths
    • According to The City New York City Transit had budgeted $322 million for cleaning and disinfecting its 472 stations and thousands of subway cars
      • New York City Transit has been spending an additional $15 million a month on subway cleaning since the outbreak began in early March

What is it like working from home?

In the beginning, I was very productive and got all my work done on time, but as time went on my internal schedule began to mess up. I still get things done on time, but I would later spend the rest of my day wondering what to do now. Most recently I have been focusing on my upcoming AP test, trying to balance both classwork for all my classes and my studies. I would rather be in school, where I don’t procrastinate and actually retain information.

Your own personal feelings and thoughts about what is happening right now?

The people who are currently protesting, in my opinion, need some common sense. The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to mainly spread from close contact (i.e., within about 6 feet) with a person who is currently sick with COVID-19. What they are doing is not only idiotic but also reckless. Yes the Virus has had a major effect on our economy, but we have not yet found a cure for the virus. We could possibly see another surge of infected people, which will overwhelm Hospitals as there intake of material supplies in are stagger lower than the amount used. Doctors are putting there lives on the line, already overwhelmed by the influx of patients, they don’t need any more.
