At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why
A goal that I have for myself is to find peace. There will always be both happiness and sadness, and both good and bad, as you can’t have one without the other. However, you can find a sense of peace despite the ups and downs of life, and be okay no matter what. Lately I’ve been struggling, but I’m trying my best to truly believe that life gets better and to find that peace. Those two things can be very challenging, but they’re important, at least for me, in order to keep moving.
How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal? (or these goals?)
I demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal by keeping myself moving and constantly trying to do things that normally bring me happiness. It doesn’t always work out, especially on bad days, but I keep trying despite the times I’m knocked down. I’ve also been trying to fill out a gratitude journal, where you write down three things that you’re grateful for/that make you happy everyday. I try my best to do this regularly, but I do often forget. However, I’ve found that it can be very beneficial, as it makes you think at least once everyday about what’s good in your life. It could be something as simple, like your food or your bed, or something specific, like a person or an event. No matter what it is it’s something that makes you happy and those things are important to remember, especially when you feel like you’re suffocating or drowning.
How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal? (or these goals?)
Sometimes I feel hopeless, but the people around me who care about me and know what I’m going through constantly remind me the things always get better. They’re the ones who keep me going even when I feel like giving up, and I’m so thankful I have a support network like that. I’ve found that the world can be full of pain and suffering, and full of people who cause others suffering because they can’t seem to find worth in themselves. However, if you find your niche and surround yourself with people that you can truly count on, all those people and things that hurt you are insignificant because the people closest to you will remind you that you are worth it, that you are strong, and that you did not let those people hurt you, that was their decision. Everyone has someone that cares about them. They might not know who that person is, but they exist, and it’s important to try to find those people and surround yourself with them because you need others to get through life. Sometimes the world makes the goal seem harder to reach, but the people who care about you in it will help hoist you up to that goal that seemed so out of reach.
