Goal Setting & Growth
At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why?
At the current point in time my primary focus is on finding myself an internship for the summer. Since I do not currently have work experience an internship will be an excellent way for me to improve my knowledge and to apply the skills that I develop in classes that I am taking in school. Additionally, I am trying to stay caught up on all communications from the college that I committed to. Registration is expected to start soon and it is my top priority to not miss the window so that I could select a schedule that works best for me.
How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal?
I have been working to complete my goals by creating a profile on indeed and on LinkedIn to search for jobs and internships. I am also organizing my GitHub page and my portfolio into a more presentable form. I have applied for several internships and am waiting to hear back from them. I have also been regularly checking my email for any news from my college. I try to check both my personal email and the email provided to me by the college every day when I wake up, as well as when I get home from school, and before I go to sleep for the day.
How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal?
The situation in the world around us has not really affected my perception of either of my goals. While at the beginning of the pandemic getting an internship would have been extremely difficult, it is know becoming much easier because New York City is opening back and because many workplaces are offering the ability to work remotely. Course registration in colleges has also not changed significantly since it has been online for a long time now. However, since it is still unclear how classes will be conducted next year planning out a schedule is harder than it would usually be.
