Day C

Modern Mythology 2021

1. At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why?

At this current point in time, my goal is to learn and master a portion of the Japanese language. Having spent most of my free time watching anime and immersing myself into the Japanese culture, I have found it to be my dream to live in Japan. I want to get closer to my dream by starting the process now. I do plan on studying Japanese in college, so you can say that I am preparing for college by having this goal.

2.How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal? (or these goals?)

I demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal by going on language studying apps for an hour per day at 7pm everyday. I find this schedule and method to be very helpful because I have already set aside time everyday to study and I can follow it. In addition, this doesn’t interfere with my ability to study for my Ap tests and do school work because I usually do those activities after school. Apps that I have found to be useful are Duolingo and quiz games. I have also additionally studied on college websites such as http://www.dartmouth.edu/~introjpn/text/hiragana.html. This has helped me learn a lot about hiragana and katakana which are important to learning how to read Japanese.

How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal? (or these goals?)

The world around me affects my perception of this goal because I do understand the plausibility and difficulty of making my dream a reality. The process of getting to live in Japan is very hard. It’s very expensive and you will need to have an actual reason to live there. The time I need to make my dream come true is undetermined and I might never achieve this dream. However, I have this goal right now purely because I want to try to make my dream come true. I don’t want to think about the difficulties or the possibilities, I just want to start the process and continue my hobby of immersing myself into the Japanese culture.
