Goal Setting & Growth
At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why?
My goal as of late has just been to put myself out there a bit more and meet new people, especially reaching out to those going to the same college as me or in the same program as me. This is largely due to the fact that I know no one going to the college I will be attending, which does make it a bit daunting but exciting for me. In turn, I’ve met a handful of new, really fun people in various majors. I’ve even made a suitemate who’s flying in from the west coast, which is pretty cool to me.
How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal? (or these goals?)
It was pretty nerve racking reaching out to people, especially because they’re quite literally just strangers I’m hoping to click with, but I’ve been pretty lucky in the sense that those I’ve reached out to have all been really down to earth and share a lot in common with me. I was also really lucky to be able to find suitemates so quickly, and ones that share similar ideals when it comes to living in a shared space. While reaching out to or responding back to people was a bit stressful to me initially, it’s definitely gotten easier, especially after I realized there are others like me who are also really nervous about college and finding roommates or friends.
How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal? (or these goals?)
I think the world around me has helped me reach my goal, as I’m just surrounded by this bubble of energy that we as the senior class has created with hopes of going off to college. I’m really happy with the program I’m in, so feeding off that energy I’ve been meeting others also in my program and it’s just amazing how we all ended up choosing what we chose. My campus is also really pretty, with beautiful flower blooms which just makes me even more excited to go there in the fall.
