Stanley Chen, Period 2, 4/5/21, Day A

At this time, what specific goals do you have for yourself? Why?

During the beginning of the school year, my goals focused on finishing my college application and getting back into school. Now that college results are out and the school year is ending, I realized that I have to set a new goal. Currently, I have been feeling a lack of motivation to attend class or do classwork/homework. Personally, I want to focus on my finishing off my school year on a positive note. Due to Covid-19, I haven’t been able to leave the house, so I found no reason to engage in physical activities. However, I’ve decided to focus on exercising more at home.

How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal?

I can demonstrate resilience towards achieving these goals in many ways. To achieve my first goal, I want to start preparing for my AP exams soon. Preparing for the AP exam gives me the motivation to start studying and paying attention in classes. I want to achieve a score on the AP exam that would meet my standards. To achieve my second goal, I will focus on doing exercises at home. I haven’t done much physical activity for the past year, and I want to change that. Recently, I force myself to do exercises right after I finish classes. I find this method a good way to end off my school day, and it’s a step to achieving my goal.

How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal?

With the whole situation with Covid-19, I was robbed of my senior year of high school. My life hasn’t been normal, and every day feels mundane to me. Remote learning hasn’t been that beneficial for me. I think remote learning has been the main reason for me losing motivation towards school. However, this whole quarantine was the reason I decided to come up with these goals. I don’t want this quarantine to change my work ethics or my well-being.
