Aim: How can we explicate the flower myths to derive morals?
Pandora- what can we understand about humanity from Pandora’s story?
What lesson should be explicated about “the sins of the parents” from the tale of Cronus and
Rhea?
Any questions about creation?
1.Pandora is too curious for her own good and opens the box which releases all the bad
things in the world. What we can take from this= Pandora’s box showed how women didn’t
have any rights back then because Pandora was a women. Showed how society was like
back then and how people viewed gender roles.
Trend: women are the downfall of men
Back then when it was patriarchal and women were seen as property
You were not able to verify paternity which was why women were locked up. In order to
preserve and pass on the legacy to their legitimate child so women were locked up to
prevent sexual desires for someone else. Women should not be curious about other things.
2. You should not try to cheat destiny and you should let your children live out their life.
At the end of the day Cronus only tried to preserve his own fate. The gods are sort of like
a lesson to treat your children good or learn from the mistakes that they had with their children.
Everyone’s fate was decided so every wrong action will lead directly to your fate.
3. Is the concept of hope a curse for mankind?
Student Reflection
What did I learn?
In history, women were considered inferior and looked down upon in society because
of men’s insecurity of passing on their legacy to their legitimate child. Pandora’s box
showed that people are way too curious about things and that curiosity will lead to demise.
Also the stories of the gods were meant to educate people to learn from their mistakes.
These stories were to prevent people from doing wrong and maybe learn a life lesson that
they can apply to their children and generations after.
Why did I learn it?
We learned about Pandora’s box because it showed how and why women were viewed so
poorly back then. It is essential to know that women were treated so poorly  in the past so
that we can learn from this and change our way of living. We also need to learn that whatever
you do in life is part of your fate and that you are not able to change that fact. Whether or not
you do something or not will be part of your fate so there is no way of changing something
from happening.
How will I use what I learned?

In the future I will just keep moving on in life and stop dwelling on the past as it is part of
our fate. Learning to move onward will help me make important decisions such as choosing
a college or a major. We must also acknowledge women as equals because they are just
as capable of doing things as men are. Like the Norse people, they believed that if you are
capable of surviving the climate you were considered equals. If you are in the workforce in
present day you should respect your coworkers no matter race or gender as anyone is capable.
