Aim: How did the universe  begin?  What are we made of?  How did it begin?  Are we alone?

Today, Dr.Davis came into class to give a presentation on the scientific reason to how the universe began.  He began with the famous theory, The Big Bang Theory.  This theory states that there was an explosion of a dense matter with infinite gravity that created the universe and time as we know it.  Since these claims can’t be visually seen from the eye, scientists relied on the astronomy and archaeology to find answers about the past.  Then, we watched a video that started at a place on Earth and continuously zoomed outward onto the farthest thing we could see.  Because our galaxy is pancake shaped, we are unable to see certain sections of space due to matter blocking our view.

When trying to discover the earliest signs of life, scientists have always been led back to water where water is necessary to the beginning of any life.  Aside from discussing the origins of the universe, Dr.Davis also posed the question: "Are we alone?"  With the technology we have, we are still unsure if there are other life forms but I do believe that there are.  Maybe not human-like or animal-like, but still foreign life forms.  One thing I learned from Dr.Davis's presentation is that our universe is ever expanding and we cant see further than what we can now due to some "noise" preventing us.  After the presentation, I thought about how one day, someone might invent something that allows us to further progress our research on the universe.  I want to pursue the career of an engineer but in my opinion, I believe everyone should question the world and think about how they can contribute to research about the origins of the world.
