Hello. This blog is going to be not about the lessons, but the other things happening in the world at the moment. However, I can assure you that I did the lessons. 😃

What is it like working from home?

Working from home has been excellent in my personal opinion. Being able to get a lot of sleep and still able to do lessons and homework from home is what I'll choose to do for the rest of my life if I have the option to. The online video sessions with teachers worked well for the most part. Zoom had really cool options if you wanted to turn your face cam on, such as being able to change your background to anything you desire. However, I said for the most part because "Zoom bombing", where a student would leak the code for strangers to join, has rampaged across schools. I personally know a friend who participated in one of these and while it was undeniably funny, it got out of hand quick. We have since moved to Google Meet and that's more or less the same thing, minus all the fun stuff. The lessons and assignments are all fair and relatively easy. The only thing I don't like is how when I missed attendence for a single class, I still got a phone call home and with that, I received an hour lecture on why I need to be more responsible from my mom.

What are you learning about your world/community based on the reactions?

I learned multiple things, the main one being that people either completely overreact or do the opposite and don't care what so ever. There is few that take the time to think about the situation and do rational things. While we are going through a pandemic, and it is nothing to take lightly, some stories have just been outrageous. You got people infamously stockpiling toilet paper and hand sanitizer, leaving others with nothing, you got people still going places with friends and not following the 6 feet apart rule, probably worst of all is that guy who bought all the sanitizer in his area, and made people pay an absurd amount of money for those resources. If the first thing that comes to mind during a crisis like this is "how do I make a quick profit/gain off of this", then that person is what you call a horrible human being. America as a whole also handled this situation really poorly. Officials saw how the virus rampaged through Italy and China, yet when the virus finally came to the U.S, we still were unprepared at all for anything. That is why things are as bad as they are today. Other countries handled this situation must better than the U.S  by making sure that anyone showing any symptoms at all is treated immediately, such as Korea.

Your own personal feelings and thoughts about what is happening right now.

I mentioned it before but I'll say it again, people need to just chill out and be safe. Just stay indoors unless you are in dire need of supplies or food. It is much easier to stay indoors then to make plans to go outdoors, plain and simple. The students at tech recently got in a huge argument on the beloved Confessions page, because a group of seniors wanted to see each other, as their senior year got robbed. People are so bored that they would rather start drama than do other helpful things like studying for the upcoming AP's. I personally think this quarantine school situation is great, I've personally spent my time face timing my friends, playing video games, and a couple of my friends and I actually started a weekly podcast to pass the time. Instead of complaining about being trapped in your houses, people should start exploring new hobbies and make the best out of the situation.
